5 Tips For Refreshing Your Space On A Budget

We’ve been in Florida a few weeks now and we are in the thick of getting permits for the changes we are making to Joie Inn. Even with all that craziness, we are loving the process and have fallen in love with our new home. Taking a break from work and walking in the water is just what our fam needed!

As we share our projects on stories, I am getting a lot of questions on how to switch up your space on a budget. Renovating or refreshing doesn’t have to be a huge cost and simple fixes or tweaks can be perfect for

I am sharing five tips with you for renovating on a budget:

  1. Plan it out: make lists, make plans - I live for a good mood board. Don’t skimp on the actual process - it can be so fun! We made extensive lists by room for The Inn, what we wanted to adjust, paint, rebuild or keep as is. It is tedious, because looking at each nook and cranny, can seem excessive but it’s necessary for progress. By staying organized, you can focus and plan for what is important to you by timeline.

2. Gain a new perspective: prior to switching things up - look around at what you have and what can be repurposed for a different use. You know I love a good ‘Shop My Home’ sesh! That can be an easy and cost effective way to simply change up your surroundings! A new perspective of some tabletop vases may be just what you need to style your dream bedside table! Get clever, and get creative!
3. Work with what you’ve got: When we first started with Joie Inn, I walked around the entire property and pulled things that were in great shape and could be repurposed. Not everything has to be new - a can of spray paint is a simple fix for something that just needs a little love and voila, fresh and fabulous ceiling fan! Think outside the box on this one! Also?
The power of paint is incredible when you just want a simple refresh...the best part? You can always repaint again if you hate it!

4. Bring in [ human ] resources: Friends and family make great contractors - lol. No, but really, we have always done work on our homes as a unit and it’s a great bonding experience. It’s amazing to look at your family and friends and say ‘We DID that!’

5. Understand things take time: Every. Single. Process is not going to be what you expect of it - there will be bumps in the road and things that are harder to accomplish and tasks that take longer. But if you trust in that process and learn from it, I promise you, the outcome will be oh so sweet!

Thanks for being here as we navigate this journey of
Joie Inn ! xx
