DIY Slatted Wall

Operation Privacy is complete! The front of the Inn - the way it's positioned - doesn't have a ton of privacy built in so when we were starting plans with the landscaping and talking about changes we wanted to make, I knew I wanted to focus on creating more privacy for the front. Enter this DIY slatted wall! We kept it simple, and added a wall to create a decorative but functional barrier between the units.

We decided to stagger the wood on each side so when you're staying in the two front rooms, you really feel like you're away from everyone, which who doesn't want a little solitude on vacay?

We used a 2" x 3" anchor piece of wood on each side of the wall to attach the 1" x 4" pine wood planks to so after drilling that piece into the wall, we moved onto staining!

We chose a stain mixture that perfectly blended with the doors - Pecan and Puritan Pine mixed looked perfecto, couldn't have planned it better. We rolled that on evenly, and let them dry.

With the staggering, we spaced the planks 1" apart and measured with our level so it stayed consistent. We used a nail gun to adhere the planks to the 2" x 3" - super simple and man, using a nail gun is some form of therapy!
After separating the two units with a wall, we decided to add two more on each side and I am so glad we did! It makes the spaces feel their own. The only difference is for the side walls, we did single slats so that it allows breeze to flow through!

The warmth the doors and slatted walls have added to the front of Joie Inn is just so satisfying - Dino said the other day that the Inn has been transformed and I feel it too! I'm so happy with how everything is coming together! It's feeling so real and I am so excited to get guests in these rooms!
