'Unique Finds' Gallery Wall

I love gallery walls because they give you the ability to have family photos up without the clutter of having them in frames on tables.
I don't have media consoles, sideboards, buffets, or things for them to go on and that's intentional. I don't need the extra stuff to store inside or on top, minimalist as we can get but with our home still being cozy, comfy and lived in!

We have a very long hallway, so I really wanted to do a gallery wall so that you see it right when you when come out of our bedroom. Like Bam, here we are! I love the images we did for our maternity shoot with Foxi - they are incredibly beautiful and I want to cherish them forever and ever and ever! The Photographer, Jillian Goulding knocked it out of the park!

I've been searching for and collecting gold brass vintage frames from garage sales and thrift stores - once I am on a hunt, I get on a role and I found the prettiest ones as it started to come together! Love a good vintage find!

This isn't a uniformed (grid) gallery wall, so I laid out most of my frames to get a feel for the spacing, colors, layout, etc. Take up the space in front of where you want to hang everything so you get a solid idea of where everything will go.

I decided to pair new black frames with the gold because the wood looked too much like the gold frames - and oooh baby, they look good together!
I print most of our images at Costco - their quality is just so great and well priced. I usually use the same preset for all of them, and these were all done with Jillian.
The key to getting them printed and to have them look quality, is to get them printed in the "lustre" finish (or matte) instead of glossy. This gives them a little more of a matte finish and helps make your iPhone pics look more professional.
If you have thrifted frames with artwork in them, simply slit the back on it and pull the staples out to remove the old art!
Once all of the art is switched out and you have your layout, it's time to hang! Woop!
A non-gridded gallery wall is a little bit easier to hang than a uniform one, because you're really only focused on keeping equal spacing between each frame. I am working with the board and batten, so I started on one side. For anything that overlaps two pegs, I put a nail on each peg to make sure it's really stable. Then I'll use blue mounting putty (your bff for life) to keep things in place. This stuff is a lifesaver, especially if you have kids, because it keeps things from swinging when they are running down said hall!
From there you work as you have laid out all the images / artwork you have. This is a really creative activity, make it unique, make it you!
