5 Things That Warm Up My Kitchen

If you've been following along for a little while, you know we just finished DIY updating our kitchen in our new house. My goal for each house, no matter how "done" it already is, is to make it function and feel the best for our family. And once we had the functionality down, it was time to up the coziness! The biggest tip I have for warming up your kitchen is to add those little personal touches that you may not even think of.

Cookbooks: Cookbooks make great decor pieces in kitchens! You may already have a couple laying around that you intend to start using, which is great because then you don't have to buy any. One of my favorites is Mandy's Gourmet Salads !

Tip: If you don't already have cookbooks but you like the look of them, keep an eye out for some at your local thrift shops!

New hardware [ from Battle Creek Hardware , which I can't get enough of ] : The knobs were something we got quite a few questions on while we were working on the kitchen. People were really curious to know why we replaced the knobs and handles on the drawers and cabinets, if all of the other ones matched and were in great condition. The only answer I can really give is that the other knobs didn't fit the style I was going for. They were a little too country for my liking! By switching them out, it immediately made the difference I wanted to see in the kitchen. These are similar ones I found on Amazon!

A rug that pops : I love our runner so much! I think any small rug or runner can add warmth to a kitchen because it breaks up the solid floor and adds a soft texture that may feel like it is missing from the room. The rich brown in ours is so beautiful and I love how the checker pattern is simple, but adds a little bit of interest.

Unique storage containers : I mean everything from food storage to our wire recipe holder to a fruit bowl. These items are functional and can be beautiful as well. I love that they can be displayed and give a kitchen the "lived-in" feeling it needs to make it feel comfortable and homey. Store coffee beans in clear containers for even more interest!

Wooden trivets : I love the warmth that wooden accents can bring to a kitchen and that's exactly why I think wooden trivets are the perfect accessory.

And of course, my number one thing that warms up any kitchen...the people you spend your time in the kitchen with :)
